creating the website
After looking at existing websites for horror films I have discovered a lot of the codes and conventions that these websites follow to make them successful. The first thing I did when creatin my website was create the pages and make a navigation bar with buttons linked to each of the pages.
Another one of these conventions was that there were images on the pages that link to my other media products so that all three products were combined. Therefore after I created the pages and the navigation bar, I added images to each of the pages.
As I found out from researching existing websites, most of the images used are of the antagonist, however I have also used an image of the setting used in the trailer on one of the pages, to make the pages seem scarier and to link it in with the trailer.
After adding the images I then added the page names at the top of each page. The font I chose for this was a typical font used for horror products as it was very sharp and written in capital letters. I made the colour of the font red as this colour suggests danger and blood which both refer back to the horror genre.
After I had sorted out the layout of the website pages I decided to add the content. This included text, images, and videos.
To make the website more interactive I added images with external website links. I added the external links to the buttons on the 'Buy Now' page as the buttons will now take the user to the website where they can buy the film.
To make it even more interactive I also added moving images in galleries so that the audience can move the gallery around to see which picture they would like to view.
I also used the gallery idea when creating the cast page as I did not want this page to just be reels of text about each member of the cast and crew although I wanted it to be informative. Therefore I used a cover flow style gallery to add information about each of the members of the crew and what their job was. This makes it less boring for the user and allows them to interact more when using the website.
To follow the typical conventions of a horror film website I also added a page before the home page appears which shows the name of the film that the website is for.
To make my website more interesting I added a transition to appear of a broken TV when the pages are changing. This links in with my trailer as the broken TV effect is also used in my teaser trailer.
